ROAM is is a server software application at the heart of several interactions. The systems overview diagram on the right shows these interactions at work.

The ROAM User exists outside the boundary, and interacts with ROAM via his or her Internet-enabled computer, and also via a mobile phone in the case of SMS alerts.

The Web GUI represents the interface the User has to the ROAM system over the web browser, and includes different views of the system from an end user and an administrator perspective. Additionally there is a map viewer component responsible for generating fully integrated custom mapping.

The remote device networks feed messages into the ROAM Message Processing system, which can also direct messages outwards to the remote devices. All processing occurs across the basic conceptual boundaries of Asset, Remote Terminal and Remote Communicator.

The organization, access and security mechanisms ensure that the system is structured in a reliable and efficient way, and also provides the mechanisms for authentication and authorization of clients or users into different segments of the ROAM system.

Alerts and Notifications support configuration of critical factors, and automated response systems in the form of Email, Web and SMS notifications to a User. These notification mechanisms can be configured for escalating and periodic Notifications.

Geo-referencing systems that provide landmarks with geographical co-ordinates, and GIS systems that provide map visualization.

3rd party systems such as ERP and other business systems that are recipients of asset information or providers of information to asset management.

The ROAM Application Suite provides a set of standard asset management solutions that is constantly being expanded.
